What are the levels? Is there an audition?
Track 1: No experience is required for this level
As a rule of thumb: a year or less of dancing. You haven't taken many lessons outside of a pre-dance beginner lesson. And you probably aren't confident or comfortable with the swing out.
If you have no experience, don't worry about all of these details, this track is for you! You will be exposed to these concepts.
Track 2: Moderately experienced, audition required
You are comfortable with the swingout and Lindy circle, mixing 6's and 8's and adding some Charleston variations. You are working on expanding vocabulary and improving your technique. You feel comfortable dancing at different tempos and starting to dance to the different sections in music and hit the breaks. You would like to understand musicality better and are hoping to have some new moves, ideas and concepts to take back home with you by the end of the weekend.
Track 3: Very experienced, audition required
You are comfortable with everything listed in track 2 and are looking to expand on your expertise. You can dance well at all tempos, have a good understanding of partnering, working tricky moves and footwork, and enjoy creativity and improvising with the music. You continue to seek ways to improve the quality of your movement, and are interested in learning new concepts and ideas to apply in your own dancing.
How will auditions work?
I am from out-of-town, is local housing available?
Are there opportunities to volunteer?
Why do Canadians get a discount?
The current exchange rate is brutal. Which makes KOABD very expensive for Canadians. We want to help them out and let our Canadian lindy hop friends know that we value them at KOABD! And we hope they bring their awesome energy! No tariffs from BSC. If you're from Canada, please come and dance with us!!I bought a pass but can no longer make it, can I get a refund?
There are no refunds. However, you can go to the Facebook event page and sell your pass to someone else. Transfers of passes must be completed by April 3rd and transfers from the New Bird -> General Track will have to pay the difference. Please arrange a transfer by emailing: info@bostonswingcentral.orgCan I pay for a class at the door?
