FAQ

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH LEVEL I AM? IS THERE AN AUDITION?

There are three levels at Kind of a Big Deal Weekend, A, B & C. In order to create the optimal learning environment, Level Auditions are required for ALL DANCERS interested in Levels B (Int) and C (Adv). The audition will be 7:30-8:30pm Friday at Orchard Gardens Boys and Girls Club in Boston, which is walking distance from the evening dance. If you have an unavoidable conflict with the audition time, please reply to this email in advance: info@bostonswingcentral.org. There is no make-up audition.

Please note, not all dancers who registered for levels B (Int) and C (Adv) may end up in these levels.

We will be assigning housing beginning 2-3 weeks prior to the event.

WHY DON'T THE CLASSES HAVE TOPICS LISTED?

The instructors have requested that we not hinder their flexibility by having detailed topics for each hour of class. We recommend that you attend all of their classes, as they may build upon each other throughout the weekend. This will also allow them to cover areas that they think that a particular class needs work on. They will cover many or all of the topics of concern to whatever track they are teaching to: basics, musicality, timing, rhythm, moves and variations. Also, if the instructors are teaching a basics class to an advanced group, trust us, there will be a lot to learn in this class, and it's a class you won't want to skip. If they are teaching a lot of choreographed moves, challenge yourself by trying to learn them and stick with it. We realize that people like to rest their minds and bodies and don't like to take every class, but try to push yourself a little out of your comfort zone this weekend. We think you will be glad you did. Happy dancing and learning!
